I'm having trouble trying to search records by a person's name.  It seems that you would have to know where and when the record was, and then hope to find the name of the person you are looking for.  Is there something that I'm missing?  Otherwise, this site offers a wealth of information for those I am looking for.

I have had luck finding people (in the English version) as long as I tick the last box (police register) as well as all the others, such as church records, censuses and so on. In other words, tick every box. Of course it helps to know any other usable details, such as birthplace. Can you estimate the person's age? Try searching a range of years (say 1865-1873, for example). I like to read every possible document on every possible person. Good luck!
